Marac - 2024 - UX/UI Designer

Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

As a UX/UI designer on the Marac Marketplace project at Heartland, I worked on a dual-platform solution designed to transform the vehicle buying and selling experience. The project consisted of two interconnected platforms: a B2C platform for customers searching for vehicles with integrated finance options, and a B2B platform for vehicle dealers to manage their inventory and connect with potential buyers more efficiently.

Before diving into design, we conducted competitor analysis to better understand industry standards, user expectations, and market gaps. These insights helped us define key experience principles and tailor each platform to meet the specific needs of our users—whether they were first-time buyers or experienced dealers.

We started by designing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that prioritised simplicity, functionality, and ease of use. Our MVP approach allowed us to validate assumptions quickly and evolve based on user feedback, ensuring the platforms would grow in alignment with user needs and business goals.

On the customer-facing platform, we focused on crafting an intuitive and engaging experience for users looking to purchase vehicles through Heartland finance. Features such as accessible filters, sorting tools, dynamic image carousels, and a clean grid layout made it easy for users to browse, compare, and save their favourite vehicles. The experience was responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile (iOS/Android), providing a seamless journey regardless of the device.

In parallel, the Dealer Dashboard was designed to simplify day-to-day operations for our partners. We created a minimalist, data-driven interface that supported quick inventory management through features like drag-and-drop uploads, automated syncing, and a “Quick Insights” section for at-a-glance metrics. The dealer platform was intentionally streamlined to reduce manual tasks and help users focus on customer relationships.

Design Highlights

I made sure the experience remained cohesive and intuitive across every device, adapting layouts and interactions to suit each context. By building a shared design system and interactive prototypes, we maintained consistency, ensured scalability, and kept everything aligned with the brand. These foundations not only supported a smooth launch but also set the stage for ongoing improvements and future growth.
